A few months ago I took part in the VCP4-DT Beta Exam, I recently received the confirmation that I had in fact passed this exam so I though I would share my experience and resources for this certification.
The first element to be aware of with this certification is that it has no course requirement like the VCP exam but there are two exams you need to pass to be a VCP in Desktop. The first exam is the VCA4-DT VMware Certified Associate – Desktop, the VCA is aimed at those who administrator a VMware View environment on a daily basis. Below you will find useful resources for this certification.
VMware View Administration Guide
Trainsignal have just released video training based on the this certification also, I haven’t seen it yet myself but if it s up to their usual quality i’m sure it will be the resource to have.

The VCA is very much based on having hands on experience with View from an administrators perspective. I am yet to complete the VCA portion of the certification so I will concentrate the majority of my efforts here on the second exam the VCP4-DT exam.
The VCP4-DT certification is very much based around the design and implementation of VMware View, it covers all aspects within the resources mentioned below.
VMware View Architecture Planning Guide
VMware View Installation Guide

The links to the blue print and mock exams etc can be found on the mylearn site here >> http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=21427&ui=www_cert
I found the VCP4-DT exam to be very in-depth not leaving any stone unturned, now as I took the beta there would have been more questions than the final exam and i’m not sure which elements would have made it into the final certification. My advice would be to make sure you have ingested the three guides mentioned above and ensure that you have had plenty of hands on experience with installing and configuring View particularly the advanced features. The below guide maybe of particular use as well.

I will update this post once I have taken the VCA exam which I plan to do shortly to complete the certification.
