View Composer Fault: Invalid input parameter ReplicationDatastoreMoId

June 12, 2011 — Leave a comment

When rolling out View Composer Linked Clones you may see the following error

View Composer Fault: Invalid input parameter ReplicationDatastoreMoId for desktop provisioning. Reason: ValidationFailure

The common cause for this is you have chosen a datastore for the replica that isn’t available for all hosts in the pool. You are only able to do this when you also locate the desktops on the same storage.

I have also found that if you initially configure your VM’s like this and then correct the issue the desktops may still fail to roll out. The only workaround I have found to this is to delete and recreate the pool with the correct storage configuration.
