After months of anticipation, speculations and announcements vSphere is finally here. This morning was the much anticipated go live of vSphere which means it is now available to be download from VMware’s website, as ever with VMware products this means there is also a evaluation of 60 days.
To make use of the free trial visit this link >> https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=vsphere&lp=1 here you will need to login with your VMware user account which can easily be created if you haven’t already got one. You will then be sent an email to activate your evaluation and download the software. There you will get the option of ESX or ESXi and you will also be able to download the the new vCenter server and optionally vShield Zones and Data Recovery.
VMware now seem to have introducted a download manager for their downloads which is always helpfull for interupted downloads.
Now all you have to do is find the time to get your teeth around the shiny new features.
If you are looking for a cheap test rig then there is a very useful article posted on vinf.net which will point you in the right direction http://vinf.net/2009/05/21/cheap-vsphere-server/, also don’t forget it is possible to install vSphere in workstation, I will blog about this later.
Have Fun!
