Another ESX4 demo video this time introducing the new HA feature called F (Fault Tolerance) With this feature when a host fails a VM can continue working with 0 downtime. Ideal for mission critical servers, it works by creating a second mirror VM on another host, this VM’s are then kept in sync by sending commands from the active VM to the passive.
Did you hear about VMware FT? I just read a bit
about it on . Would u think that would
replace VMware HA? I had seen a video even of FT
on that link. Is it available yet?

Hi Andrew,
I don’t believe it will replace HA but will be an addition, it will allow you to fully protect a VM by duplicating it onto another server and then mirroring the updates. It is a potential new feature in VI4.
Cheers
Very interesting feature. In an environment our size, this has a fair number of applications. HA should remain to provide hardware tolerance for those less mission critical virtual machines.
